Family & Domestic Violence in the Workplace – 101 Training

When Anna Campbell, domestic violence advocate, spoke here in Whanganui 2021, one of the most impactful things that came out of it was our businesses identifying they needed practical training and hands-on learning for how to help when someone in their workplace experiences domestic violence. That training is now here.

In conjunction with the Whanganui Violence Prevention Network we now offer you the opportunity to be one of the very first to experience the new Family & Domestic Violence in the Workplace – 101 Training, which has been developed specifically with our region in mind.

The impact of family and domestic violence costs NZ employers $368 million a year, through increased illness and absenteeism, possible legal liabilities, increased employee turnover, reduced productivity, increased cost of recruitment and retraining, and increased risk of workplace violence leading to health and safety breaches.

The Whanganui Family Violence Network (VIN) is now offering Family Violence 101 Workplace training that covers:

• your legal roles and obligations under the Domestic Violence Victims Protection Act (2018),
• the foundations of domestic violence and what that looks like in the workplace,
• and some practical responder training, giving you tools so that you can have supportive conversations with anyone experiencing family violence.
